Kaptivo Firmware Release 3.3.4 | Broadcast Channels
08.14.2020
OVERVIEW
This firmware release is a major update, introducing 'Broadcast Channels'. This feature is designed to meet the needs of teachers, lecturers and anyone wanting to broadcast a Kaptivo session to many viewers without granting them full control of the session.
Previously, the Kaptivo web-app provided a 'democratic model' where every logged in user had identical privileges, including the right to invite others, end the session etc. 'Broadcast Channels' introduces the paradigm of having two types of users with different sets of privileges regarding the Kaptivo web-app session:
- Channel Organizer - has full admin rights over the session
- Channel Viewer - has read-only permissions for the session
In addition, as the name implies, a channel has a persistent URL and can be set up in advance of a lecture course, and used for every lecture in that course.
The broadcast channel feature is only available in cloud-connected mode.
For more questions and answers on this feature, please see this related post.
The release also includes some feature enhancements and bug-fixes.
