When connected to a network with Internet access your Kaptivo unit’s software automatically updates to ensure you always have the latest feature updates.
If you set your Kaptivo Enterprise to "Local Mode (Self-Hosted)" you have an option to turn off automatic updates.
There may be a reason to manually upgrade to new firmware.
Check here for the latest firmware release if you need to do a manual upgrade.
Using Wired Ethernet directly connected to your computer
With the Kaptivo powered on and connected directly to your laptop via wired Ethernet (or through a local switch *without* DHCP available, the Kaptivo will self-assign an IP Address of 169.254.102.1 /16.
You should connect your computer and assign an IP Address in the same network range, for example, 169.254.102.100 with a mask of 255.255.0.0.
Once the network is up, open a browser to the Kaptivo's IP Address, login and click on the device tab to manually upload the firmware.
Using Wi-Fi self-configuration mode
With power on, press and hold the button on the control pad for approximately 10s until the indicator light flashes green and red. Your Kaptivo is now in wireless self-configuration mode.
Connect your computer to the KAPTIVO-xxxxxx Wi-Fi network.
Then visit setup.kaptivo.live from your browser to reconfigure Kaptivo. The Kaptivo will intercept this and direct you to its embedded admin web page, where you can click on the Device Tab to upload the new firmware.
Be sure to click save if you make other changes, and click 'leave configuration mode' when done if the Kaptivo doesnt tell you it will reboot automatically.
