With Kaptivo Enterprise you have the choice of operating in Local Mode (self-hosted).
This means that the Kaptivo will not reach out to the Kaptivo.live webservice.
Because of that, the difference between cloud connected and local hosted is *how* you connect to the kaptivo camera.
- In Self-hosted mode, you connect directly to the IP Address of the Kaptivo camera.
Self hosted mode requires that you be on the enterprise network directly or VPN connected since you must enter the IP Address of the device in your browser (or a name if your IT department has setup a DNS entry for your Kaptivo).
- In Cloud-connected mode, you connect to www.kaptivo.live and enter the Kaptivo ID.
Cloud mode allows connections from anywhere on the Internet.
Users connecting via kaptivo.live to cloud-connected Kaptivo Enterprise units can be mandated to use Single-Sign-On to verify their identity before accessing the whiteboard connect. These controls are setup through the kaptivo insights management portal which is only available for Kaptivo Enterprise.
As an administrator, you can decide to share your usage statistics with Kaptivo so they can be displayed in the Kaptivo Insights portal even if you are running in Local Self-Hosted mode.
When connected to the Local Self-hosted Kaptivo, your sharing options will be much more limited.
You will only be able to Download or Print the snapshots or timeline. Other share integrations; Slack, Trello, MS Teams, Webex Teams, Google Classroom, etc, will not appear.
